Shipping policy
Dauth Boerdereye Shipping Policy
At Dauth Boerdereye, we are committed to delivering your fresh butchery, dairy, and general grocery items safely and efficiently to your doorstep. Please review our shipping policy carefully.
1. Delivery Areas
-
We currently offer delivery services within a defined radius of our Dauth Boerdereye premises. Please refer to our website or enquire in-store for a list of our current delivery areas and their associated delivery fees.
-
Unfortunately, we may not be able to deliver to all locations due to logistical constraints or the nature of our perishable products.
2. Delivery Days and Times
-
Deliveries are typically made on [Specify Days, e.g., Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays].
-
You will be provided with an estimated delivery window at the time of placing your order. While we strive to adhere to these times, unforeseen circumstances (e.g., traffic, weather conditions) may cause delays. We will endeavour to inform you of any significant delays.
-
Orders placed after our daily cut-off time of [Specify Time, e.g., 12:00 PM] will be processed on the next available delivery day.
3. Delivery Fees
-
Delivery fees are calculated based on your delivery address and order value. The applicable delivery fee will be clearly displayed during the checkout process.
-
Minimum order values for delivery may apply.
4. Perishable Goods and Cold Chain Integrity
-
Crucial for Perishables: Given that we deliver fresh meat, dairy, and other temperature-sensitive items, maintaining the "cold chain" (keeping products at appropriate refrigerated or frozen temperatures) is paramount to food safety and quality.
-
Our delivery vehicles are equipped to maintain the necessary temperatures for perishable goods during transit.
-
Customer Responsibility at Delivery: It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that someone is available to receive and immediately refrigerate or freeze perishable goods upon delivery.
-
Dauth Boerdereye is not responsible for the spoilage or damage of perishable items due to delayed receipt or improper storage by the customer after successful delivery.
5. Delivery Process
-
Recipient Presence: An adult must be present at the designated delivery address to receive and sign for the order. This signature confirms that the goods were received in good condition.
-
Proof of Delivery: Our delivery personnel may request a signature or other form of acknowledgement (e.g., photograph) as proof of delivery.
-
Unattended Delivery: We do not offer unattended delivery for orders containing perishable items due to food safety risks.
-
Failed Delivery:
-
If no one is available to receive the order at the scheduled delivery time, our driver will attempt to contact you.
-
If contact cannot be made or the delivery cannot be completed, the goods will be returned to Dauth Boerdereye.
-
For perishable items, a re-delivery attempt may be possible on the same day or the next delivery day, but an additional delivery fee will be charged, and Dauth Boerdereye cannot guarantee the quality of highly perishable items after a failed first delivery attempt.
-
For non-perishable items, a re-delivery can be arranged, or you may collect the order from our store within [Specify Hours/Days, e.g., 24-48 hours].
-
Uncollected orders for perishable goods returned to our store will be subject to a cancellation fee or may be discarded for health and safety reasons, with no refund issued, if not collected within [Specify Short Period, e.g., 4 hours] or if quality is compromised.
-
6. Inspection Upon Delivery
-
We encourage you to inspect your order carefully upon receipt.
-
If you find any damaged, incorrect, or missing items, please inform the delivery driver immediately or contact Dauth Boerdereye within 4 hours of delivery. For perishable items, prompt notification is essential.
-
Please refer to our Return Policy for details on how to handle damaged or incorrect items after delivery.
7. Force Majeure
-
Dauth Boerdereye will not be liable for any failure or delay in delivery caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather, natural disasters, strikes, civil unrest, or technical failures.
8. Contact Us

Key considerations and South African context incorporated:
-
Perishable Nature: This is explicitly addressed multiple times, emphasising customer responsibility for immediate refrigeration and the implications of failed deliveries.
-
Cold Chain: Mentioning equipped vehicles and the importance of maintaining temperature is crucial.
-
South African Consumer Protection Act (CPA) implications: While not explicitly quoting the CPA, the policy aligns with principles such as the right to quality goods, the right to inspect goods upon delivery, and the supplier's responsibility until delivery. The "no unattended delivery" for perishables helps mitigate risks under consumer law.
-
Clear Expectations: Setting clear expectations for delivery areas, times, fees, and procedures helps manage customer satisfaction.
-
Contact Information: Essential for any queries or issues.
